Shropshire Way Walking Festival 2024

Saturday 14th to Sunday 22nd September 2024

Each year we ask walking groups in Shropshire to include a walk using part of the Shropshire Way during our Festival week.

The 2024 Festivgal consisted of 23 walks of varying distances, plus 1 cycle ride.

The weather this year was good for most of the week but the yellow warning of heavy rain on the second Sunday affected attendance on the 6 walks programmed for that day. Only one of the walks took place as planned with another being changed the day before to a shorter walk (the original one will be in mid November). Three others were cancelled and one postponed to November.

2024 Festival Statistics

23 walks, 1 bike ride.

4 walks didn't take place on Sunday 22 Sept due to yellow warning of rain. One was cancelled in advance, 1 was changed to a shorter walk in Shrewsbury (planned walk programmed for 17/11/24), another was postponed to 11/11/24 and one was cancelled on the spot when only 3 people turned up and decided it wasn't worth the drive to Clun.

219 participants took part, including 35 guests (213 walkers, 6 cyclists). This included 8 people on a walk held before the festival started.
